Reiner Kirsten

The story:

As a member of the Jäkle family from the Black Forest, Reiner was already playing the drums at the age of 6. This was followed by training on the accordion and later in singing. Alongside his job as a telecommunications engineer, Reiner Kirsten worked steadily on his musical career. His victory in the Swiss preliminary round of the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1996 also signalled his decision to dedicate himself fully to his career as a singer.

The breakthrough:

The album “Schmetterling im Regen” (Butterfly in the Rain) already exceeded his wildest expectations. Victory in the preliminary round of the Grand Prix of Folk Music, placings in the Schlager Parade of Folk Music and the folk hit parades on ZDF and ORF, as well as a strong media presence, made 1996 a milestone in Reiner Kirsten’s solo career.
